Stripe rust alerts are periodic assessment of stripe rust disease and potential by Dr. Xianming Chen, USDA-ARS at WSU. Updates are useful for general regional monitoring of stripe rust and in the spring also often include fungicide application guidelines. However, stripe rust incidence and severity are highly variable due to weather conditions, epidemic spread, and variety resistance. Fungicide application should always be based on direct knowledge of stripe rust levels, variety resistance, and potential economic benefit.
